Every non-grounded 230 V / AC system must have an insulation monitoring unit in order to protect people against electric shocks. Non-grounded systems are present when, for example, an inverter is used in a vehicle that doesn't have a spike or direct contact to the earth. The insulation monitoring unit measures insulation resistance between the external conductors and the protective conductor and switches off the AC voltage if a fault is detected.
Code no. 109115 (insulation monitoring combi) is needed if a 230 V external power supply is fitted to the vehicle. Includes switchbox and insulation monitoring.
